WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!On the 12th of april 2006,the A div boys reclaimed the championship title, last held 2 years ago.Emotions ran high and joy was etched across everyone's faces.Last year, the boys experienced that same triumph, but only for a fleeting moment.Their initial euphoria quickly gave way to shock and disbelief as the judges announced the error in tabulation.We had lost the title to rjc after all.Second best was considered defeat in their eyes.The girls also lost the much anticipated 1st runner's up title,missing by a mere 2 points.There were individual triumphs;remarkable achievements from many of our talented individuals, but the overall team results were a disappointment to many.
This year,the tears shed were tears of joy.of triumph.of conquest.of the satisfaction of hard work paid off. Both for the guys and girls.The guys held onto the much coveted championship trophy and it was a moment of glory for the entire team.The girls obtained what we couldn't last year-the 1st runner's up trophy!So far,it's been true to me and seok's predictions of the girls improving by one placing each year.Cant wait to see the girls clinch the title next year!The guys team of 2003 were ecstatic,to be able to relive their glory of being champions.To see their dreams being realised once again by their successors.The feeling i had at that moment was indescribable,its true essence cannot be expressed by mere words.We've always speculated and predicted results,but when the best possible result was realised,it all seemed so surreal. We were all high on that dazed,heady rush of joy.The sweet taste of victory.
i wish my account of cross nats couldve been one entirely laden with good news,but there were setbacks as well.The acs(i) B div boys suffered the same fate our boys did last year.They were announced as champions,only to have the judges retract their statement much later and pronounce VS as champions.My heart went out to them,having trained with them and knowing how much they wanted it,and also having experienced that same disappointment.it was really hard to see the guys look so defeated and sir's evident disappointment.Their disappointment was harder to bear for the fact that they were the defending champions. During prize presentation,none of them could bring themselves to smile for the camera.i hope they'll take this setback and come out of it stronger,with renewed determination for next season,and also with the knowledge that the experience of the whole season is far more valuable than the results.
It was a trip down memory lane for us seniors as we re-visted the familiar grounds of turf city,almost exactly one year later. i relived the memory of cross nats 2004 and 2005 and everything came back to me,even from the moment i stepped into school to meet the team.Everything was so familiar in it's exactness..the pre-race carbo loading of rosalind tan's famous pasta,the bus ride down to turf where the top 8 were reading their letters from mr ang, being one of the first few teams to arrive to secure a good waiting area,hearing thunderous(and annoying) cheers from
the victorian population haha.Even though i wasnt running this year,i still felt that pre-race anxiety on behalf of my juniors.it was alot more fun and less stressful being among the spectators and cheering my lungs out this time!:)oh and we ended up having dinner at seoul garden.again!for the past 3 years haha.But that comfortable familiarity just added to the nostalgia:)
